Where the numbers come from
Rankbist uses Common Crawl's domain-level web graph: millions of domains and the links between them, published openly every few months. The Authority Score is our own 0–100 rescaling of each domain's place in that graph, so a site that many well-connected sites link to scores higher.
It is a large sample of the web, not every link that exists, and every screen says so. Links are counted between domains, not page to page, and a domain the crawl didn't reach is shown as “not in the graph”, never as a score of zero.
Why it costs less
The big link indexes run their own crawlers and charge for it. An open, published graph lets us offer domain-level research in every package, including Start for free, with three lookups a day. Read more about where our data comes from.
