Questions about website analytics
Do I need Google Analytics?
No. If you have a Google Analytics 4 property, connect it (read-only) and your numbers appear straight away, history included. If you don't, add the Rankbist script to your site: it starts counting from the moment it's installed.
What does Rankbist add that Google Analytics doesn't?
Every page's traffic next to its Google clicks, impressions and position from your own Search Console, its Rankbist content score and its speed, with flags for the pages that need work. And markers on the traffic chart for what you changed: audits, articles, applied fixes, your notes and Google's ranking updates.
Is the Rankbist script cookie-free?
Yes. It sets no cookies and stores nothing in the visitor's browser. Visitors are counted with a code that changes every day and can't be turned back into an IP address or a person, so nobody is followed from one day to the next. It never collects names, emails or form contents.
How much can the script record?
Start for free includes the script on one site and 10,000 page views a month. Paid packages include more; the table on this page has the numbers. If a month's allowance runs out, new visits aren't counted until the 1st and you're told.
What counts as a conversion?
With Google Analytics, your GA4 key events (a sign-up, a purchase, a contact form). With the Rankbist script, any event your site sends with one line of code, for example after a purchase.
Can I share the numbers with a client?
Yes. Download a PDF of any period (with your own logo on white-label reports), or create a read-only link: it shows live numbers, needs no sign-in and you can turn it off any time.
Will I know when traffic drops?
Yes. Once a day Rankbist compares the last 7 days with the 7 before and tells you (in the dashboard and by email) when visitors or conversions fell sharply, or when visitors jumped.
Can Rankbist change anything in Google Analytics?
No. The connection is read-only. Rankbist only reads reports from the property you choose, and you can disconnect it any time.
